But you didn't plan on the stage being coated in slippery glitter (or the sound guy starting your song thirty seconds in... or your fringe getting stuck to your fishnets). Seasoned performers always seem to keep their cool during onstage crises, and if you find yourself thinking "How do they DO that?", take this class and find out. Your approach to handling onstage mishaps will depend on your act, your performance style, and what's gone wrong, but there's always a way to handle difficulties with grace and humor and having a pre-planned approach to coping will help you shine even when everything's going wrong. This class provides both a checklist for onstage crisis prevention (you DID check that chair you plan to dance on for wobbliness, right?) and a practical tutorial on how to turn your worst disasters into moments that make the audience love you even more.

About the Instructor: Jezebel Express is an internationally celebrated burlesque performer who got her start in her home province of Newfoundland & Labrador in 2004! Though Jezebel’s parents made the questionable decision to move to Iowa when she was in grade school, Jez moved back home to St. John’s as a young adult, and brought burlesque to the island, creating the province’s first cabaret troupe, The Purity Girls.
Jezebel has been named one of Burlesque’s Top 50 several times, and founded the “Ones To Watch” initiative, which encourages burlesque’s top performers to raise others into the spotlight alongside them. She spent over a decade dancing in New York City’s burlesque scene and serving as a core faculty member at The New York School of Burlesque. She is currently touring the US in her self-converted skoolie with the goal of performing in all 50 states (she’s eyeing the Canadian provinces and territories next!) Jezebel has been featured in the New York Times. on Good Morning America, and can be seen on the silver screen in the documentary Getting Naked and the Czech film Burlesk. She is, to her knowledge, the only fat woman to have ever performed a full burlesque striptease on the runway at New York Fashion Week.
